Hey, all.

I got a new phone (the old one is full of ded) soooo I lost all of my contacts.

If you'd like me to have your phone number, plz call me! (215) 990 2462.
Brain. VINCENIA.
Note how that does not sound anything like 'Warehouse 13 hijinks based on the killer concert.'
...you're going to make me do it anywa now that I've started, aren't you.
::facepalms:: VINCENIA, SELF. FOCUS.
I'm thrilled to announce that Beyond Victoriana has received an endorsement from the wonderful people over at Steampunk Magazine. Check out their kindly words of encouragement here.

And, just as a reminder, Beyond Victoriana will be making its reappearance on the aethernets starting January 17th.

for your own personal Waterloo

[info]yuletide reveal, while waiting for dinner pick-up. I wrote:
*Snap Judgments and Premature Celebrations for [info]kuteki; my first proper foray into Daria fic in years, and it was a blast. (Complete with a cameo crossover, for great being true to my fannish roots.)
*What a (Hench)man's Gotta Do as a treat for [info]speccygeekgrrl; anyone who's read my Dr. Horrible stuff with Conflict Diamond and/or poker night probably knew this was me right away. XD
*and Look to the Future, a Madness treat for [info]doyle_sb4; I wanted to give something to the person I drew into the fandom with me. (I may revisit it later, since I had more than this but was unsatisfied with it.)
And so, SO many thanks to [info]melissima for Frozen Assets; I ADORE IT TO PIECES.
2009 is another Lost Year.

That's really all I can say about it.

I... don't even want to think about next year. I really don't.

I have done something on my life-list of things I wanted to do (Saw a Broadway OBC) and I still feel like shit.

That's it. Really.
So, Avatar was (a) very pretty (I love the whirligig lizard things!), but (b) my head exploded there in the middle, and (c) I WANT MORE OF THE LADIES PLEASE, ESPECIALLY TRUDY; SHE IS MADE OF WIN.

but the name goes unspoken

Meme, gacked from [info]gehayi: Name a fandom, a fannish topic, or topic relating to original fiction, and I will share my unpopular opinions on the matter. Or any opinion, because I have lots of those and don't always know which ones are unpopular or not.
(You can try me on anything; if I don't know it, I'll let you go again.)
My poor iPod is starting to have massive battery fail. Word has it they're cheap to replace, at least; much as I'd love a new shiny, it's not really in the budget right now.
Contract for the short story going in the I Do anthology is on its way. (A perk of being a postal worker's kid: Being able to just walk in the back door and hand mail to the person who sees it all out at the end of the day.)
We're going to see Avatar this afternoon. Going in knowing what the Issues with the story are; hopefully I won't get sidetracked by the shiny.

to what end, if I can't even find my pen?

Meme, via [info]misslucyjane: The first sentences of everything you've posted over the course of the year.
in which I discovered Dr. Horrible, and ran mad from there )
...Good god, I wrote a lot this year.
(If anyone wants to guess what the [info]yuletide stories are, leave your guesses here.)

Hope everyone has been enjoying the holidays!

I'm taking a little hiatus for the next few of weeks as I work on some exciting new articles & interviews for Beyond Victoriana and catch up on some real life happenings. To tide you over a bit, check out the spiffin' new series index, featuring all of the BV posts made so far both on LJ and Dreamwidth.

Beyond Victoriana will resume fresh and dandy in the new year on January 17th, 2010.

And, as always, if you have anything to suggest, please drop me a line here or email me at attic [dot] hermit [ at] gmail [dot] com.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to guess which stories I wrote for Yuletide (people I've told about it/who betaed for me obvs. disqualified), go to it. I'll write you a fic if you get one right.
I wrote three stories, two full-length and one in the Madness collection. Comments are screened, or will be as soon as I get to the option.

[the scene: The dining room we don't actually eat in, where we have the tree up. We're opening presents. There's a for-the-whole-family present from my sister and brother-in-law, which I gave to Mom since she'd had the least to open so far.]
Mom: ::opens the DVD-shaped package:: ...Well. That's an interesting choice.
me: What?
Mom: ::holds up Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog::
me: ...XD XD XD

Other goodies include a D20 dog tag, Jelly Babies and Pocky, pens and a case for them, a pin from the Hard Rock Cafe in Cardiff (SHEEP PLAYING GUITAR!), a... Sid-from-Ice Age Pez dispenser(???????), Barnes and Noble money, and plain old money.
And the [info]yuletide fic of awesome. A v. tiny rec list is forthcoming.

Happy Holidays!

I think I could walk
through the simmering sand
if I held your hand.
I think I could swim
the skin shivering sea
if you would accompany me.
And run on ragged, windy heights,
climb rugged rocks
and walk on air:

I think I could do anything at all,
if you were there.

GIP and subject line brought to you by last night's funtimes. (I am so glad I gave into the temptation.)
And now, for something completely different: 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' is a bloody weird song. "Merry Christmas! NOW GIVE ME SOME DAMN DESSERT OR I WON'T LEAVE YOU ALONE, I CAN WAIT ALL DAY." (I am also so glad tomorrow's the likely end of the Christmas music at work.)
Also also, there is a [info]yuletide story up in [tiny fandom I nominated]! Whether it's my request or the other requester's, I don't know, BUT EITHER WAY.
On that note, I think I should be off to Borders. Weather's likely to be sucktastic tomorrow, or I'd go after work then.
